BURLINGTON – Mrs. Bessie Iona Burns Rudd, 92, of 515 Tillman Street, Burlington died at her residence on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 12:24 a.m.
A native of Harnett County, NC, she was the wife of the late William Walters Rudd and the daughter of Marvin Henry Burns and Bessie Lee Sykes Burns, both deceased.
Mrs. Rudd attended Hocutt Memorial Baptist Church.
She was a homemaker and loved giving to others, making bracelets, shopping and traveling.
Survivors included seven daughters, Bonnie Gilliam (Arnold), Melinda McPherson, Brenda Sharpe (Doug), Shelia Buckner (Will), Vickie Watlington (Glenn), Marilyn Jones and Ann Duff (Danny); five sons, Joe Kenyon (Carolyn), Edmund Kenyon (Laura), Tommy Rudd (Diane), Jerry Rudd and Randol Rudd; sister, Betty Goldston; 37 grandchildren; 85 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Rudd was preceded in death by her son, Benny Rudd and nine brothers and sisters.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. by Rev. Steven Hargett and Pastor Brandy Hargett with the family receiving friends from 9:45 a.m. til 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
Other times they will be at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amedisys Hospice, 2929 Crouse Lane, Burlington, NC 27215.
