George Franklin Blalock
   PROSPECT HILL — George Franklin Blalock, 90, of 2532 John Oakley Road, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Alamance-Caswell Hospice following several years of declining health.

   He was born in Prospect Hill on Sept. 26, 1922, to James Weldon Blalock and Mary Hasseltine Oakley Blalock, both deceased.

   He served for 38 months in the U.S. Army as a medical technician. He retired in 1979 after 32 years from Western Electric in Burlington. He was a member of the American Legion Post #447 since 1979. He was a volunteer with Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell for 18 years. He was also a member and deacon of Moon’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Caswell County.

   Survivors include his wife, Susan Edwards Blalock of the home; daughter, Sharron B. Mansfi eld; three grandchildren, Temisia

   L. Jackson, John R. Mansfi eld Jr. and LuAnne C. Mansfi eld; two great-grandsons, brother, Joseph Blalock and sister, Nannie Lou Blackard.

   He was predeceased by his fi rst wife, Louise Simpson Blalock, an infant son George Arnold Blalock; fi ve sisters, Sallie Aldridge, Allie Clayton, Frances King, Margaret King, Lizzie Pritchett and one brother William Blalock.

   A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Harrelson Funeral Home Chapel with Elder James Gray offi ciating. Burial will be in the Blalock Family Cemetery.

   The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service and at other times at the residence.

   Memorials may be made to Alamance-Caswell Hospice and Palliative Care, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215 or Moon’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church, 2532 John Oakley Road, Prospect Hill, N.C. 27314.
