Erma Lucas Brown
Erma Brown, 83, of Liberty passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Moses H. Cone Hospital.
Erma had the heart of a pastor’s wife; caring for both family and friends. She ministered to many a soul with a hot meal. She had a passion for cooking making a memorable mac and cheese. She loved and cared for her family, as wife, mother, and Maw-Maw.
Erma was the daughter of the late Fred Edward Lucas and Swannie Eudora Rudd and was also preceded in death by her husband Utah Brown; her son, Fred Thomas Brown Sr.; her brothers Edward Powell Lucas, Elbert Eugene Lucas and Norman Ray Lucas.
Surviving are her sons, Utah Brown Jr. of Liberty and James Timothy Brown (LuAnn) of Liberty; daughter-in-law, Anna P. Brown-Joyce (Chris); three grandchildren, Fred Thomas Brown Jr., Joshua Martin Brown (Kati) and Brandon Aaron Brown; two greatgrandsons, Camden Timothy Brown and Gracin Hunter Brown; a great-granddaughter on the way, Khloe Estella Brown.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at 3 p.m. at The Loflin Funeral Home Chapel; officiated by Wayne Tuttle; burial will follow in Gilmore Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening, March 1, 2014, from 6 to 8 at the funeral home and other times at her home.
