John Henry Terrell 


    BURLINGTON — John Henry Terrell , 84, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 31, 2007, at his residence. Mr. Terrell  was born January 21, 1923, in Caswell County to the late J.O. Terrell  and Ester Jackson Terrell . He was married to the late Lucy King Terrell , who preceded him in death in 1992. He retired from Holt Finishing Hosiery Mill, was a member of People’s Memorial Christian Church, served in the U.S. Army, and was a former member of the American Legion.
    Survivors include a daughter, Tina Terrell  Simmons of Gibsonville; a son, Eugene Terrell  and his wife, Georgia, of Mebane; stepdaughters, Lucy "Sissy" Long and Shelby Michaels and husband, Colon, all of Burlington; stepsons, Ronnie Long and wife, Martha, of Haw River and Jonny King of Pleasant Grove; 17 grandchildren, and 20 greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Herbert Terrell  and wife, Judy, of Charlotte and Joe Terrell  and wife, Ellen, of Mebane; a special and dear friend, Mary Lee Pettigrew; and many nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a daughter, Lavonna Gail Terrell ; grandson, Gene Wolf; five brothers; and two stepsons, J.D. Long and Tommy Long.
    A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2008, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John  Shields. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at his daughter’s home, 823 Park Dr. Gibsonville.
