Betty “Jean” Walker

ELON- Betty “Jean” Walker, 78, of Kerr’s Chapel Rd, Elon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 30, 2021 at Alamance Regional Medical Center, following several years of declining heath. She was a native if Alamance County and the daughter of the late Raleigh T. and Jennie Bett “Betty” McKinney. She was the wife of Billy Joe Walker of 53 years, who survives her. Jean was a homemaker, former textile worker, and a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, Nana, Sister, Sister-in-law, Aunt, and friend to all those who knew her.

Other than her husband Joe, she is survived by her son, Christopher Walker, and his wife, Diana of Gibsonville, two grandchildren, Savannah and Jennie Walker of Gibsonville, one sister JoAnn King, and brother-in-law Alvis King of Burlington. She is also survived by a host of brother and sister – in – laws as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jean, who was a twotime cancer survivor, enjoyed reading, eating at Chick-fil-A, talking with friends, and supporting those around her – especially her granddaughters – who were the light of her life. She was kind, loving, and will always be remembered for her daily telephone calls, words of encouragement, steadfastness and fighting spirit. She was a strong support in times of need and a member of Eastlawn Baptist Church.
The family will receive family and friends at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service from 5:00 to 7:00PM on Friday, April 2 and other times at the home. A graveside service will be held at Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church on Saturday April 3 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon with Rev. Walter Webster officiating.
The family would like to extend a special appreciation to the ICU and First Floor Palliative Care nurses at ARMC who provided wonderful and compassionate care during her time in the hospital.
