Thomas Steve Smith 
    YANCEYVILLE — Thomas Steve Smith , 88, of 421 Steve Smith  Road, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at the Brian Nursing Center following a long period of declining health.
    He was born in Caswell County, May 22, 1916, to the late Thomas  and Lottie Terrell Smith . He was retired from tobacco farming and the dairy business. He was a charter member of Cobb Ruritan Club, a former chairman of the Cobb School District School Board, and was a member of Locust Hill United Methodist Church. He was a past president of the Caswell County Farm Bureau and Supervisor of Caswell County Soil and Water Conservation District for 40 years.
    He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Myrtle Lineberry Smith  of the home; a daughter, Kaye S. Millner and husband, Jim, of Blanch; two sons, Thomas  Albert Smith  and wife, Becky of Danville and Belvin Grey Smith  and wife, Carolyn, of Greensboro; a sister, Doris Whitlow of Danville; two brothers, Charlie Smith  of Providence and Wilbur Smith  of Stokesdale; grandchildren, Carolyn Brackin, Trey Millner, Brandon Smith , Jason Smith , and Steven Johnson; and four great-grandchildren.
    In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Bertie Gunn and Edna McKinney; and two brothers, Isaac Smith  and Wesley Smith .
    The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Locust Hill United Methodist Church by the Rev. Phillip Brown. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
    The family will receive friends at Harrelson Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the residence.
