Myrtle Lineberry Smith


YANCEYVILLE — Myrtle Lineberry Smith , 85, of 421 Steve Smith Road, died April 1, 2006, at Brian Nursing Center following a decline in health.
Born Aug. 16, 1920, in Ramseur, she was the daughter of the late Albert Jefferson Lineberry and the late Eliza Craven Lineberry .
She was very active in Locust Hill United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, was a member of the United Methodist Women, and served in many other church capacities. She was the voting registrar for numerous years for the Locust Hill precinct and was a homemaker and active member of the Caswell Extension Homemakers Club for over 50 years. As a member of the club, she served as an officer on the county and district levels, was instrumental in starting the Caswell County Bloodmobile, and planned and hosted tour trips throughout the United States for over 20 years. Along with her husband, she was a master basket craftsman and taught numerous craft and basket weaving classes in the community and state.
She is survived by one daughter, Kaye Smith Millner and husband Jim of Blanch; two sons, Thomas Albert Smith and wife Becky of Danville, Va., and Belvin Grey Smith and wife, Carolyn of Greensboro. In addition to her children, she is survived by five grandchildren, Carolyn M. Bracken of Blanch, Trey Millner of Burlington, Brandon Smith of Ft. Benning, Ga., Jason Smith of Virginia Beach, Va., and Steve Johnson of Annapolis, Md., and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Irene L. Brower of Asheboro, Ruth L. Strider of Greensboro, and Louise L. Schenk of Greensboro and one brother, Paul Lineberry of Ramseur.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Thomas Steve Smith , who died Aug. 1, 2004, and one brother, Boyd Lineberry of Asheboro.
The funeral will be conducted on Tuesday, April 4 at 10 a.m. at Locust Hill United Methodist Church by the Rev. Phillip Brown. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home, Yanceyville, on Monday, April 3, 2006. At other times the family will be at the home of Jim and Kaye Millner, 713 Caswell Pines Drive, Blanch.
