Elmer Eston Murray


    BURLINGTON — Elmer Eston Murray, 90, of 6225 N.C. 49 South, died on Friday, September 26, 2008, at the Hospice Home. He was born in Alamance County, and was the son of the late Solon Lorenzo and Hattie Nicholson Murray. Elmer was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and a former member of the Alamance Civitan Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from General Electric.
    He is survived by his wife of the home, Pauline Minor Murray; daughter, Karen Murray Webb and her husband, Michael, of Snow Camp; son, Gary Eston Murray and his wife, Wanda, of Burlington; stepdaughters, Paula (Mark) Crawford of Burlington, Cindy (Archie Jr.) Wilborn of Mebane; stepsons, Jerry (Linda) Minor of Gibsonville, Randy (Vicki) Minor of Elon; grandchildren, Jessica Webb, Chris (Jamie) Murray; great-grandchildren, Eston Murray and Adela Murray; stepgrandchildren, Ritchie (Sarah) Minor, Derrick (Lauren) Minor, Brian (Meredith) Minor, Amy Roney, Kellie Crawford, Michelle Crawford, Cara Wilborn and Allison Wilborn; three great-stepgrandchildren; and a twin brother, Earl Clifton Murray of Liberty.
    He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Holden Murray; and his parents.
    The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Friendship United Methodist Church by the Rev. Alvin Horne, the Rev. Jack Page and the Rev. Larry Janey. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, and other times at the home.
