Gary Eston Murray
   BURLINGTON — Gary Eston Murray, 68, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a four year battle with cancer.

   He was born in Alamance County to the late Elmer Eston Murray and the late Edith Holden Murray and was the husband of 47 years to Wanda Overman Murray, who survives.

   Gary retired in 2006 after 20 years with the Alamance Soil and Water Conservation District. A farmer all his life, he was the owner and founder of Sunset Farms. Gary was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Carrboro Farmers Market and the Voluntary Agriculture District of Alamance County. He was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, where he participated in the church choir and was a teacher of the Clyde Faulkner Fellowship Sunday School Class.

   Survivors, other than his wife of the home, include his son and daughter-inlaw, Chris and Jamie Murray, of Burlington; grandchildren, Eston, Adela and Harlon Murray; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Mike Webb, of Snow Camp; and a niece, Jessie Webb, of Raleigh.

   He was preceded in death by his parents.

   The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Kimesville by the Rev. Chuck Ireson, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

   The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home.

   Memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 4400 Alamance Church Road, Liberty, NC 27298.
