OBITUARIES Lillie Dameron

BURLINGTON — Lillie Dameron , 96, peacefully graduated to Heavenly Places to be with Jesus, her beloved Savior and Lord on Friday, Dec. 16, 2005 at 3:09 p.m., from her residence at 2109 Young St.

Her spiritual health was strong to the last, but her physical health began to fail in May of 2004 and she was critically ill for four days.
She was widely known as a spiritual giant, an intercessory prayer warrior, and a great woman of faith who knew her God and exemplified the life of Christ.

A native of Kenly in Johnston County, she was born to Alonza Hardy Collier and Bettie Elizabeth Corbett Collier on October 11, 1909.

Mrs. Dameron  and her husband, the late Robert David Dameron  Sr., were married in Wilson, N.C. on Jan. 16, 1926. In 1930 they moved to Alamance County and together founded and became business partners of the Hub Café, social center and cafeteria for the Altamahaw-Ossipee schools during the ’30s and ’40s.
Before moving to Alamance County, Mrs. Dameron  became a born-again Christian in the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Wilson, N.C. She often assisted her father, a pioneer of the Pentecostal faith in eastern North Carolina, as a song leader for the services.
In the ’50s and ’60s, Mrs. Dameron  was a licensed minister with the Independent Pentecostal A.A. Allen Revival Fellowship of Arizona and pastored a church in west Burlington.
In 1963 Mrs. Dameron  joined the nation’s oldest Pentecostal denomination. While a member of Harvest Hills Church of God, she faithfully served as voted-in Sunday School teacher of the Ladies Bible Class for 33 years. She also served as a leader of Bible studies, prayer groups, and special speaker on numerous occasions. Several awards were bestowed on her while she was active in her church: Mother of the Year on several occasions, Regional Senior Adult Single Layperson of the Year in 1985, and the Church of God Senior Citizen of the year in 1988.

Survivors include three sons, Robert David Dameron  Jr. and wife Barbara of Burlington, Warren Douglas Dameron  of Deland, Fla., and Ronald Craig Dameron  of the home; one daughter, Bonnie Dameron  Henry and husband Jim of Burlington; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; 14 great-greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Charles Edward Dameron  and Roy Lee Dameron ; two daughters, Geraldine Dameron  Latta and Pauline Dameron  Chambers; three sisters, Bertha Collier Winstead, Myrtle Collier Winstead and Eva Collier Webb; and four brothers, Hardy Collier, Paul Collier, Albert Collier, and Hubert Collier, respectfully.

The service of Thanksgiving for the Life and Celebration to the Homegoing of Lillie  Collier Dameron  will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham. Dr. Russell Morris, Pastor of Harvest Hills Church of God, will be officiating and her son, Ronald Craig Dameron , will be assisting.
Prior to the aforementioned service, at 1:30, a 30-minute concert of special music featuring the 732 bell Schulmerich "Carillon Americana," the Wurlitzer Pipe Organ and Chimes, and several renown instrumentalists and vocalists will begin.
The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 4 until 6 this afternoon and other times at the home of her daughter, Bonnie Henry, 702 Hiawatha Court, Burlington, N.C. (Indian Valley).
Lillie Dameron’s  principal healthcare provider, Ron Dameron  and family, desire to send a personal note of heartfelt thanks and sincere appreciation for all the professional and skilled assistance they received from Dr. Larry Harper and Home Care Providers and Continuous Care Services of Alamance Regional Medical Center as well as Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell. From God’s viewpoint, those who serve others are the greatest in His Kingdom. May all of you be richly rewarded and blessed for harmoniously working together to serve and provide quality care for Mother.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215 or to Harvest Hills Church of God, 3110 Maple Ave., Burlington, N.C. 27215. 3, Lillie Dameron 262, Lillie Dameron
