Nellie Mae Hicks Dameron


BURLINGTON - Nellie Mae Hicks Dameron, age 87, passed away May 20, 2017 at Hospice Home of Burlington.
Known for her fun and sassy personality, Nellie had a warm spirit that attracted people.

Nellie was a longtime Office Manager at Chandler Concrete and previously at Ray Moving & Storage. Nellie enjoyed volunteering at the Burlington Senior Center, being a part of the Red Hat Society and being President of the Twin Lakes Resident Council. She loved working with flowers, painting and was a wonderful southern cook, which was enjoyed by her entire family.

The daughter of John Arbert Hicks and Leona Fulcher Hicks (both deceased), Nellie grew up in Caswell County but spent the majority of her life in Burlington. She was married to Roy Lee Dameron for 49 years before his death in 1998. Also preceding her in death: Inez Hicks Aldridge and Margie Hicks McKinney (sisters), James Anderson Hicks and John Arbert hicks, Jr.(brothers).

Nellie is survived by son Timothy Lee Dameron (Hannah) and daughters Beverly Rae Dameron and Connie Dameron Crouch (Alan), as well as grandchildren Timothy Dameron (Allison), Christina Crouch Smith (Bo), Blake Dameron (Michelle), Courtney Crouch Wilson (Chris), Beverly Crouch Metts (Bryan) and Matthew Dameron (Julie). She is also survived by a sister Gloria Hicks Huff (James) and a brother Calvin W. Hicks (Patricia), ten greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service will be held Friday, June 2, at 3 p.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel at Alamance Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank Twin Lakes and Hospice Home for their love, support and assistance.
