Virginia Jo Shackelford, 88, of St. Joseph, peacefully passed away October 13, 2016 surrounded by close family and friends.
Jo was born January 5, 1928, in Melbourne, Arkansas to the late John and Audrey (Wyatt) Cone. Surviving family includes husband, Ronald E. Shackelford and daughters, Jan Donovan (Bob), Debbie McClure (Mike), Suzan Taylor (Ron), Patricia Garver (Mike), Ann Peacher Messerschmidt (Steve); sister Johnice Murphy; and grandchildren: Ryan, Patrick, Meghan, Sara, Laura, Mary, Ashley, Nick, Brad, Audrey, Christy and Mallory; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Jo was a registered nurse for nearly forty years, working in several capacities throughout her career, including private duty, teaching at Methodist Hospital and serving as a nursing supervisor at the State Hospital. Friends and neighbors often sought her skills as well.
A member of the Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church, Jo cherished her faith. She was an avid volunteer, always ready to serve when asked.
Memorial Service 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 17 at Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. 470, Virginia Jo Cone Shackelford
