James Donald “Jim” Smith
 
 BURLINGTON — James Donald “Jim” Smith, 82, of Danieley Water Wheel Road, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
 
 A native of Caswell County, he was the son of the late William Graves and Martha Byrd Rudd Smith and husband of Carol Whitesell Smith.
 
 Mr. Smith was retired from Lowe’s Home Improvement where he was the Burlington store manager for 23 years. He was a member of Stony Creek Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder, a member of the Lakeview Civitan Club where he actively supported the Lakeview baseball field, a member of the Bula Lodge 409, Shriner, a lifetime member of the Alamance Homebuilders Assoc. and an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
 
 Survivors include his wife, Ruby Carol Whitesell Smith, of the home; daughters, Deborah S. Ellis and husband Kenneth of Naples, Fla. and Laura S. Litten of Charlotte; grandchildren, Adam and Brian Bussey, Christina Lebonville and Jason Litten; greatgrandchildren, Joseph and Paige Bussey; siblings, Doris Nixon, Cecil Smith and wife Linda, Kenneth Smith and Brenda Wells and husband David.
 
 He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, George William Smith, Allen Harvey Smith, Johnny Clifton Smith, Ralph Gary Smith and Billy Lee Smith.
 
 Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Stony Creek Presbyterian Church by Dr. Randy Wellford, Pastor.
 
 Mr. Smith will remain at Lowe Funeral Home until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
 
 The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and at the home at other times.
 
 Memorials may be made to Stony Creek Presbyterian Church, 2140 Stoney Creek Church Road, Burlington, NC 27217 or to the Lakeview Civitan Club, 144 Roberta Drive, Burlington, NC 27217.
