May 3, 1938 ~ February 10, 2020 (age 81)


Mrs. Mary Lou Ray, 81, formerly of Burlington, went on to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, February 10, 2020 at 9:34 p.m. She was an owner and operator of a home daycare and a member of Trinity Worship Center. She was a light that shined so brightly for everyone to see the love of God. She was a loving wife, mama, grandma and great grandma, which so richly blessed our lives.
A native of Alamance County, she is preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Billy "Fred" Ray. She was raised and inspired to live her faithfilled life by her sweet, sweet grandmother “Nanny” Mary Hulda Wright. “You are my sunshine”.

Survivors include her #1 son, Billy Ray, Jr. of Marietta, GA; beloved daughter in law, Melissa Ray of Burlington, and her loving daughter Cynthia Ray Swamp and husband Steve of Apex,; five beautiful grandchildren, David Ray, Brandon Ray, Rebecca Seagraves, Jonathan Ray and Annabelle Ray; six precious great-grandchildren, Olivia, Henry and Hudson Ray, Carter and Jackson Seagraves and Emmylou Ray; two beloved sisters, Nancy Thomas and husband Wade of Haw River and Marjorie Perry of Graham; two dear brothers, George Mansfield of Burlington and David Mansfield, Jr. and wife Janice of Graham; beloved niece Renae Cates of Mebane, and two sweet sisters in law, Pat Dunnagan and Judy Lowder, both of Burlington. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life.
She was preceded in death by her sweet baby daughter, Sandra “Muff” Ray Boggs; parents Earl Mansfield and Elizabeth Wright Mansfield; sister, Pat Neese; brother, Kenneth Mansfield; brothers in law Tommy Dunnagan and Newman Lowder.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 4:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.
For those wishing to send flowers, the family requests perennial plants as a way to remember her beautiful love.
Her heart was always for children. Donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s fund.
