Carmel Gentile Mann
July 16, 1939 — January 17, 2026
Burlington

Carmel Gentile Mann, 86, went to be with her Lord & Savior on Saturday, January 17, 2026. A native of Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Anthony John Gentile and Carmella Lopresti Gentile Carley, and was married to Harvey Richard Mann who passed away in 2010.

Carmel was immensely proud of her Italian heritage and she expressed that pride the best way she knew how— through food. Cooking was one of her great loves and feeding people made her happy! Family meant everything to Carmel and she also had a remarkable way of creating family wherever she went. Through her years of work at Iowa National Insurance, Shelby Insurance, and Southern Guaranty Insurance Company and through her home church, Harvest Baptist, Carmel built a circle of friends in every sense of the word. She invested in people, nurtured relationships and stayed connected. Her friendships were deep, loyal, and lasting.

Carmel’s heart extended far beyond people — she loved animals, especially dogs. They brought her joy, companionship and comfort. She gave them the same affection & devotion she gave to everyone she loved.

At her core, Carmel was loving, giving, and compassionate. She noticed when someone needed help…she gave freely of herself. She offered kindness without hesitation and care without condition. Carmel lived a life centered on love — love for family, love for friends, love for her church and love expressed through service and generosity. Her legacy lives on in shared meals, cherished memories, faithful friendships, and countless lives she touched simply by being herself.

Carmel is survived by her uncle; Joe Gentile as well as numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Richard Mann parents; Anthony John Gentile and Carmella Lopresti Gentile Corley, sister; Josphine Anne Cavan and a very special niece Robin Winstead Cavan.

Due to inclement weather, a funeral service to celebrate Carmel’s life will be held at a later time. The day and time of those services will be posted as soon as possible.

Memorials may be made in Carmel’s honor to Harvest Baptist Church; 3741 S. Church St, Burlington, NC 27215. 256, Carmel Gentile Mann
