Hulon Presley Gerringer
ELON - Hulon Presley Gerringer, 85 went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 66 years to Frances Page Gerringer who survives.
Hulon retired from Bell South and enjoyed farming, woodworking and stain glass. He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday school secretary. Hulon enjoyed coaching and pitching senior softball until he was 80 years old with the “Slo Moes” and he was an avid Duke fan. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Frances Page Gerringer; son, Rance H. Gerringer and wife, Darlene of Burlington; daughters, Cheryl G. Starr of Burlington and Lisa G. Jones and husband Brian of Burlington; grandchildren, Brandon (Katherine) Jones, Mitchell Jones, Amy (Tyrone Crisp) Starr, Kim Starr and fiancé, Chris Dameron, Kevin Gerringer and fiancé, Jacque Douglas and Ashley Gerringer; great-grandchildren, Vada and Zora Crisp, Alybeth Gerringer, Kailyn Gerringer and Kelsey Gerringer; sisters, Doris Martin of Kentucky and Jean Holyfield and husband, Richard of Greensboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Presley and Ethel Lee Gilliam Gerringer; infant sister and brother.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the ARMC Cancer Center and Hospice of Alamance-Caswell for their kind and compassionate care for Hulon during his illness.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church by Rev. Judson Dunlap and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6- 8 p.m. on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.

Elon-Frances Page Gerringer, 93 went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.
She grew up in the Camp Springs Community of Caswell County. She was the wife of 66 years to the late Hulon Presley Gerringer.
She was the daughter of the late William Burch and Effie Matilda Allred Page.
Frances was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh Community Church and the Methodist Women. She was a talented cake baker and enjoyed making cakes for special occasions. Frances was an active supporter of the Alamance Burlington Senior Games with her husband, Hulon. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her sweet smile will be missed by all that knew her.
Survivors include her son, Rance H. Gerringer of Burlington; daughters, Cheryl G. Starr of Elon and Lisa G. Jones and husband Brian of Burlington; grandchildren, Kevin (Jacque) Gerringer, Ashley Gerringer, Amy S. (Tyrone) Crisp, Kimberly (Chris) Dameron, Brandon (Katherine) Jones and Mitchell (Erin) Jones; great grandchildren, Vada, Zora, Sawyer, Alybeth, Kailyn, Kelsey, Charlotte and Frances; brother, Willie Page of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Evelyn Brown and a daughter-in-law, Darlene Gerringer.
