He was born in Alamance County to the late Robert Lacy Melton and the late Carrie Thomas Melton and was the husband of 55 years to Mary Madren Melton, who survives.
Bob was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired after 22 years of service with the U.S. Navy and retired with Diebold, Inc. Bob was a member of Union Ridge Church, Fleet Reserve Association and The Retired and Enlisted Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lewis Melton and Lloyd Melton; and stepmother, Bessie Mae Zimmerman Melton. 470, Robert Leonard “Bob” Melton Sr.
