Christine Keziah Hooper Harris
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Christine Keziah Hooper Harris of The Village of Brookwood and formerly of the Prospect Hill community of Caswell County died at Edgewood Place on Friday, Oct. 12, 2007.
Mrs. Harris was the daughter of the late Mr. Rufus Albert Hooper and Mrs. Margaret Charlotte McCormick Hooper Roberts. Christine was married to the late Mr. James Nimrod Harris of Belton, S.C. Survivors are sons, James Nimrod Harris Jr. and wife, Ruthann, Emery Hooper Harris , Gary Eugene Harris and wife, Marianna, Lonnie Albert Harris and wife, Joan, and daughter, Amy Harris Deal and husband, Ray. She has 14 grandchildren, James Nimrod Harris III and fiancée, Stacie Lance, Susan Harris Moss and husband, Steven, Nicholas Hooper Harris , Ann Harris Donnelly and husband, Patrick, Emily Matkins Harris , Mary Margaret Harris Parham and husband, Tripp, James (Jake) Goodwin Harris , Christine Harris Presley and husband, John, Lonnie Eugene Harris , Andrea Smith, Heather Brown, Caroline Harris Deal, Christine Harris Deal, and Catherine Carroll Deal; and seven great-grandchildren, Harris Harding Moss, Hunter Steven Moss, Hudson James Moss, Ian Charles Donnelly, Emma Christine Donnelly, Cale Bryant Presley and Grayson Elliott Presley.
She is survived by one brother, William Oswald Hooper of Pensacola, Fla. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Louis Grady, Irvin Virgil, Albert Joseph, Emery McCormick and Posey Alexander, and one sister, Mable Muriel.
Mrs. Harris received her education at Appalachian State Teachers College and King’s Business College. She worked at Burlington Industries in the accounting department and was an officer of Pickett Hosiery. She was a member of Front Street United Methodist Church and the Builder’s Sunday School Class. In her earlier years she was a very active parent in the PTA of Altamahaw Ossipee and Western Alamance schools. She greatly enjoyed her piano, sewing and bridge games with her beloved friends and kept in shape with her ballroom dancing and walking. She was an excellent cook and one of her greatest joys was providing Sunday lunch for her entire family.
A private burial will be held at Alamance Memorial Park prior to the service.
A memorial service will be conducted at Front Street United Methodist Church on Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Marshall Old, Pastor, Front Street United Methodist Church and the Rev. Phillip Myers, Pastor, First Reformed United Church of Christ.
The family will receive friends following the service at the Heritage Center. Other times they will be at the home of Amy and Ray Deal, 2045 Stuart Court, Burlington, N.C.
