Mrs. Marie Kernodle Garrison
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Marie Kernodle Garrison , 86, of 3619 South Mebane Street, Burlington, and formerly of 612 N.C. 87 North, Burlington, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Friday, April 27, 2007 at 11:25 p.m.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Herbert Lindsay Garrison , and the daughter of Robert Elmore Kernodle and Lemma Ross Kernodle , both deceased. She retired from Carolina Biological Supply after 25 years of service. She was a member of Shallow Ford Christian Church and the Boone Women’s Extension Club. She was a loving mother and devoted wife, who loved gardening and cooking for her family.
Survivors include one son, Herbert Myron Garrison and wife, Becky, of Madison; two daughters, Pamela Teresa Garrison and husband, Ray Starling, of Kailua, Hawaii and Iris G. Johnson and husband, Ronnie, of Burlington; five grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; four great-stepgrandchildren; and one greatgreat-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Verna Kernodle Grant.
The funeral will be conducted at Bethlehem Christian Church on Thursday, May 3, 2007 at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Roger Barefoot. The body will be taken to the church to lie in state at 2:30 p.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will follow the service in Stony Creek Presbyterian Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends after the committal service in Stony Creek Fellowship Hall.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.

Herbert Lindsay Garrison
BURLINGTON — Herbert Lindsay Garrison , 84, of 612 N.C. 87 North, died Monday, May 16, 2005, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after four months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Marie Kernodle Garrison for 67 years, and the son of the late Lindsay Sidney and Carrie Murray Garrison .
Mr. Garrison was a member of Stony Creek Presbyterian Church, was retired from Holt Hosiery and worked for many years at Glen Raven Knitting Mill. He was an avid gardener and loved yard work.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Kernodle Garrison ; daughters, Iris Garrison Johnson and her husband, Ronald M., of Burlington, Pamela Garrison and husband, Ray Starling, of Hawaii; son, Myron Garrison and wife, Becky, of Madison, N.C.; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Louise Sutton and Elizabeth Coleman, both of Burlington; brother, Billy Garrison of Elon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Lee Barker and Elida Patterson; brothers, Leon Garrison , Murray Garrison , and Clyde Garrison .
Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 19, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Stony Creek Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Dave Gilbert. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
The visitation will be Wednesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
