DENTON | Hazel Cagle Smith, 83, of East Fourth Street, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Thomasville Medical Center.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel by the Revs. Charles Moses and Claudie Harrison. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Smith was born on Aug. 18, 1927, in Montgomery County to Raleigh Cagle and Donnie Poole Cagle. She was retired from Burlington Industries' Denton Plant after 16 years and later she enjoyed caring for and staying with the elderly. Her husband, Garland D. Smith who died on Feb. 8, 1988, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons Hershel (Greg) Smith, Mark Smith and Todd Smith, all of Denton; daughter, Judy Vega of Libertyville, Ill.; and grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Josh Smith, Diego Vega, Daniel Vega, Allison Smith and Anna Smith.
The family will see friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Fourth Street or Todd Smith's residence, Piedmont School Road, Denton.
