Mr. Garland R. Kernodle Sr.
SNOW CAMP — Mr. Garland Richard Kernodle Sr., 74, of 6513 Big Spring Road, died at 2 p.m. June 21, 2006, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital after three years of failing health, and a critical illness of two weeks.
A native of Orange County, he was the husband of Mrs. Carol E. Kernodle , who survives, and the son of the late Thomas C. Kernodle and Dealie Westbrook Kernodle . He was a retired truck driver for Pilot, and a member of Open Bible Baptist Church, Beaumont Avenue, Burlington.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include sons, Richard Kernodle and wife, Beth, of Snow Camp and Jerry Kernodle and wife, Becky, of Burlington; a stepson, Neal Howerton of the home; daughters, Karen Williams and husband, Steve, of Haw River and Pat Moser of Yanceyville; sisters, Geraldine Hardee Cole and Nellie Terell, both of Hillsborough; a brother, William Kernodle of Durham; three stepbrothers and sisters; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Ragan.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Open Bible Baptist Church in Burlington by Pastor James Mc-Kinney. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Mebane.
The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the residence.
