Charlie Woodrow Hooper
BURLINGTON — Mr. Charlie Woodrow Hooper, 87, of 10812 N.C. 62 South, Burlington, died at Duke University Medical Center on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. following a brief illness.
A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of the late Alma McIntyre Hooper and the son of Ugar Lafayette Hooper and Rosa Rainey Hooper, both deceased.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II, and owner and operator of Hooper’s Store in Caswell County. Woodrow was a member of Bethel Christian Church in Caswell County.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, William “Bill” Hooper, Walter Hooper, Rufus Hooper, Robert Hooper, Clement “Pete” Hooper and Dewey Hooper; and four sisters, Georgia H. McMullen, Luella H. Sartin, Myrtle H. Dellinger and an infant, Janie Hooper.
The funeral service will be conducted at Bethel Christian Church on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Barry Lane. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.
