Laird Carter Anthony
 
 Laird Carter Anthony, 94, of Graham NC, passed away on March 3, 2016 at the Oaks of Alamance surrounded by his family and loving caregivers. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Annie Mae Sharpe Anthony and his parents, Layton E. Anthony and Lillie Shatterly Anthony. Mr. Anthony was a welder by trade and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed deep sea fishing with his best friend, Lynn Whitehead (deceased), and travelling to Daytona Beach, FL to see the dog races.
 
 Mr. Anthony’s greatest pride in life of which he spoke of often, was having served our country in the United States Marine Corp from 1940-1946, having been in combat in Guadalcanal, New Britain, and Pelelieu.
 
 He is survived by one brother, Blake Anthony (Ernestine), of Fresno CA, several cousins, nieces, and nephews, his daughter Becky Lowry (Buddy) of Elon NC and one grandson, Chris Kelley of Graham NC.
 
 A Funeral Service will be held 11:00am Monday, March 7, 2016 in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel, Graham, NC. Burial to follow in the Graham Memorial Park with Military Honors. The family will receive
 
friends at the funeral home on Monday
 
for 1 hour prior to the service.
 
 The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Hospice and all the caregivers he had over the past year.
