Charles Crawford Parsons Jr. GRAHAM — Charles Crawford Parsons Jr., 79, of Solar View Trail, went home to be with the Lord at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the Hospice Home in Burlington. He was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late Charles Crawford Parsons Sr. and the late Nancy Ada Hawkins Parsons.
Charles retired after 22 years as a decorated veteran from the U.S. Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant. He served both in the Korean War and theVietnamWar where he received a Purple Heart from injuries received in combat. After retirement from the Air Force, Charles worked with General Electric, retiring after 18 years. He was a member of Historical Providence Christian Church in Graham. Charles enjoyed woodworking and was an avid rose gardener.
Survivors include his fiancée, Melba Fitzgerald of Graham; son, Charles "Dale" Parsons and his wife Rita of Elon and stepson, Fred Price Jr. and his wife Lisa of Bloomingdale, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Parsons, Michelle Burnett, Matthew Parsons, Hannah Price, Harrison Price, Chapel Price and Corey Price; sisters, Rachel Councilman, Ruth Nowka and Betty Parsons, all of Burlington, Frances Lowe of Elon; brother, Curtis Parsons of Mebane; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Marie Parsons; former wife, Doris Terrell Price Parsons; parents, sisters, Lee Grubbs, Mable Parsons and Lucille Martin; brother, George Parsons.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, April 5, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Historical Providence Christian Church, in Graham, by the Rev. Darryl Peebles and assisted by the Rev. Randy Hobbs. The burial will follow at the Pine Hill Cemetery with full military honors provided by the U.S. Air Force. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. on Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
