BURLINGTON — Mrs. Donna Shaw Frye, 88, died at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at 10:35 a.m.
A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of the late Fletcher C. Smith and the late James E. Frye and the daughter of Carl Flake Shaw and Flossie Kime Shaw, both deceased.
Mrs. Frye was a retired textile employee. She loved to travel and visited our 50 states and Canada. Donna loved to tell the stories of her many trips in the United States. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Gayle Golding and husband Jim; sister, Martha Ann Grigsby; brothers, Tommy Shaw and wife Brenda and J.W. Shaw; two grandchildren, Billy McCormick and wife Kamari and Susan Boone and husband Eric; and four great-grandchildren, Billy McCormick Jr., Benjamin McCormick, Hailey Boone and Holden Boone.
She was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Smith; and six siblings, Lucy Whitesell, Mary Lee Moore, Sara E. Young, Sandra Dodson, Carl “June” Shaw and Lewis Shaw.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
