Obie Wyatt Oakley

BURLINGTON – Obie Wyatt Oakley, 91, of Yanceyville died at Edgewood Place in Burlington on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 7:55 p.m.

A native of Caswell County he was the husband of the late Mavis McCain Oakley and Julia Davis Oakley, who survives, and the son of Walter Kitchen Oakley and Ida Terrell Oakley, both deceased.

He was the former manager of the ABC Store in Yanceyville.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three brothers, Bob Oakley, Thurman Oakley, and Ike Oakley; two sisters, Grace O. Baker and Eva O. Isaac; several nieces and nephews; and a grandson, Will Britton White.

In addition to his parents and first wife he was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 3 p.m. by Rev. Steve Loy. Burial will follow at Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington from 1:45 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. At other times the family will be at the residence.

Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.

Mr. Oakley’s family wishes to thank Vicky Flood and Brenda Beam for the loving care given to Obie.
