BURLINGTON — Barbara Boone Hall, 74, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Home on July 9, 2010, at 8:45 a.m., with her family by her side.
Born in 1935, in Alamance County, Barbara was the daughter of the late Robert Boone Sr. and Mozelle Boone Russell.
She was married to Lacy Gilbert Hall for more than 54 years and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and caring friend who will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and unselfish spirit.
She graduated from Walter Williams High School in 1953 and attended Elon College. Barbara enjoyed being a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant for 30 years and took great pleasure in helping her clients achieve healthy and beautiful skin.
Barbara was a lifelong member of Front Street United Methodist Church, where she served on the altar guild and enjoyed singing in the choir. She was chairman of the Hospice Gala Fund Raiser Committee for several years and worked tirelessly for that organization. Barbara was cofounder of the Huck Finn Tennis Charity Tournament that for 25 years benefited local organizations and was a major contributor to the funding of Elon University’s awardwinning Jimmy Powell Tennis Complex.
Barbara and her husband, Lacy, made a striking couple and were models with Marilyn’s Modeling Agency and appeared in TV ads and magazines. Barbara was a beautiful person inside and out.
She was past treasurer of the Dogwood Garden Club and was very creative in growing and arranging flowers as evidenced by her beautifully award-winning landscaped yards. Barbara also worked at Floral Décor for several years. Barbara and Lacy enjoyed traveling and visited friends all over the world. She was a gracious hostess and loved entertaining.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Lacy Gilbert Hall; one daughter, Cindy Anne Novak and her husband, Bill, of Burlington; sisters, Sandra Boone Gray, of Roxboro, Kathryn Boone Carroll, of Burlington, and Georgia Boone Wofford and her husband, Paul, of Burlington; one brother, Robert Boone, Jr. of College Park, Maryland; and two grandchildren, Codie Anne Novak, of Enterprise, Alabama, and William Stephen Novak IV, stationed in the Air Force at Lakenheath, England.
The family appreciates all the love and support shown throughout Barbara’s final journey and requests there be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215, 336-532-0100, or the music program at Front Street United Methodist Church, 136 N. Fisher St., Burlington, NC 27215, 336-227-6263.
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at Barbara and Lacy’s former residence at 2927 Longpine Road, Burlington, NC 27215 from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2 (Barbara’s Birthday). Please join us in celebration.
