BURLINGTON - Worth Wake Fulk, 76, of 1303 Willow Oak Drive died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at his home.

A native of Forsyth County, he was the husband of 55 years of Helen Sullivan Fulk, who survives.

He was the son of the late Geneva Stewart Fontaine and Edward Fulk.

He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and retired in 1989 as contracts and grants administrator at the university.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II, and a Mason and Shriner.

Survivors other than his wife, of the home, include his daughters, Candace (Terry) Griswold, Kimberly (G.W.) Mann-Matkins, Kathryn (Brant) Nix and Karen (Tommy) Overbey; a brother, Philip Fontaine of Kernersville; his grandchildren, Jake (Lauren) Mann, Josh, Jeremy and Jonathan Mann, Jeff Lucas, Kari and Kurtis Overbey and Worth Lee Griswold; a great-grandson, Chancelor Mann; and his stepgrandsons, Chris Griswold, Ryan Griswold and Christopher Matkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepgrandson, Justin Matkins; and a brother, Edward Fulk.

The family will receive friends and relatives in a celebration of life from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the home of the deceased.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215. Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements.
