    ALAMANCE — Ben Guthrie Pitts Jr., 66, of Elder Lane passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Alamance Health Care. Mr. Pitts was born December 7, 1942 in Alamance County to the late Ben Guthrie Pitts Sr. and Irene Coleman Pitts. Ben established BGP Enterprises, owned and operated Diamond P Western Store and served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
    Survivors include a son, Ben G. "Benji" Pitts III and his wife Angela; two grandchildren, Sarah Morgan Pitts and Savanna Nicole Pitts; two sisters, Barbara P. Baulding and her husband David of Burlington and Linda P. Johnson of Alamance; three nieces, Paige B. Moore, Angela B. Kutzer, and Jennifer Johnson; special friends, Marie Davis, James French, and Charlene Rudd; and his special K-9 companion, "Lucy".
    A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2009 at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Howard Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
