Irene Coleman Pitts
ALAMANCE — Irene Coleman Pitts , 82, of 2948 Elder Lane, died at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at Twin Lakes Center after several years of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Ben Guthrie Pitts Sr., and the daughter of the late George Ralph Coleman and Ava Kimbro Coleman . She was retired from Neal’s Drapery Company. She was a member of Alamance Lutheran Church, and a member of the Golden Agers Club of the church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. David (Barbara) Baulding of Burlington, N.C. and Ms. Linda Johnson of Alamance, N.C.; one son, Ben G. Pitts Jr. of Burlington, N.C.; five grandchildren, Paige Moore, Ben G. Pitts III, Angela Kutzer, Jennifer Johnson and Jackie Phillips; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Allison, and two brothers, Wilbert Coleman and Everette Coleman .
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. Jim Lockley, pastor of Alamance Lutheran Church, assisted by the Rev. George M. "Jack" Phillips Jr., pastor of Zion Christian Church.
The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 Wednesday evening, and at other times, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. David (Barbara) Baulding, 707 Shawnee Drive, Burlington, N.C.
