Van  Lindley Bowman 


    BURLINGTON — Van  Lindley Bowman , age 92, of Wade Coble Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 13, 2007, at Twin Lakes Center. He was a native of Guilford County, and the husband of the late Kathleen Foster Bowman  and Pearl Joyner Bowman , who survives.

    Van  retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a N.C. Meat Inspector. He was a member of Union Ridge Church and a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather.

    Survivors include his wife, Pearl Joyner Bowman  of Leonardtown, Maryland; daughter and son-in-law, Vanda Kay Boggs and her husband, Harold Dean, of Burlington; son and daughterin-law, Mac D. Bowman  and his wife, Sue, of Burlington; grandchildren, Gary Boggs and his wife, Donna, of Burlington, Vanessa Surles and her husband, Charles, of High Point, Doug Bowman  and his wife, Mary Jane, of Semora and Vance Bowman  and his wife, Angie, of Six Mile, South Carolina; eight great-grandchildren; brothers and sistersin-law, Donald Bowman  and his wife, Avalee, of Wallace and Howard Bowman  and his wife, Myrtle, of Liberty.

    He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Foster Bowman ; parents, Lawrence and Callie Clapp Bowman ; sister, Ruth B. Terrell; brothers, H. L. "Mutt" Bowman , H.L. "Jeff " Bowman , Richard and Vernon Bowman .

    The family would like to express their appreciation for the outstanding care and love by the Twin Lakes staff at the Coble Health Care Center.
    A committal service will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary of Union Ridge Church by the Rev. Dan Ficklin. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

    The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of the church and other times at the home of the daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Harold Dean Boggs, 6231 Union Ridge Road, Burlington, N.C. 27217.

    Memorials may be made to Union Ridge Church, c/o The Activity Center Fund, 115 Altamahaw-Union Ridge Road, Burlington, N.C. 27217.
