Walter M. May Jr.
 
 BURLINGTON — Mr. Walter M. May Jr., 86, of 1305 Berkshire Road, Burlington, died at the Hospice and Palliative Care Home of Alamance-Caswell on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at 7:19 a.m.
 
 A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Martha Oakley May and the son of Walter Marion May Sr. and Minnie Isley May, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion Post 63. He was a retired cabinet maker at Zimmerman Lumber and later at Newlin Hardware. Walter was a member of St. Mark’s Church and an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He was a regular customer at Boston Sandwich Shop.
 
 Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia May Hawley of High Point; son, Randy May and wife Amy of Graham; six grandchildren, Laureston Hawley, Bennett Hawley Jr. and wife Kim, Sherri May and fi ancé Billy Call, Rodney Matthews, Timmy Edmondson and Heather Willoughby; and great-grandson, Ian Alexander Hawley.
 
 He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
 
 The funeral service will be conducted at St. Mark’s Church on Saturday,
 
December 7, 2013, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Ben Bishop. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
 
 The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence.
 
 Memorials may be made to the Hospice League of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
 
 The family would like to extend a special thanks to Vicky, Loudell and the entire staff of the Hospice Home for their kindness and compassionate care given to our father and grandfather, Walter M. May Jr.
