Obituary Online notes for “Babe” Mary Dona EVANS
The death angel has visited our community again, taking Mrs. John Isley, who died last Thursday morning. She had been afflicted for the past year with lung trouble, but her condition became grave only two days before her death. Mary D. Evans was born Dec. 2, 1892, three miles north of Clifty where she resided until her marriage 17 years ago to John Isley. She had since resided on a farm three miles south of here.
She is survived by her husband and five children from five to fifteen years of age, also by one brother, Herman Evans, and six half brothers, Will Hutton of Hickory Creek, Benton county, G. B. Stubblefield, Ontario, Cali., Ben and Ed Evans of near Clifty, Charlie and Jack Evans of Fullerton, Cali., and two half sisters, Mrs. Ida Badgley of Long Beach, Cali., and Mrs. Alice Fort of Sisco, Arkansas.
Mrs. Isley bore her afflictions with great patience, never seeming to dread the end. A short time before her death she called for someóne to read scripture and pray for and with her, and through the talking and prayers of Clyde Clark she was converted, and her last words were praising God. She passed to the great beyond with a happy smile. She will be sadly missed in the home that was humble but very happy. She was of a very sweet disposition and always saw the bright side of everything, and she numbered her friends by her acquaintances.
Her remains were buried in the Clifty cemetery, services being conducted at her home by Clyde Clark, with a short service at the grave by Rev. Wiley Todd. The many beautiful flowers prepared by loving friends showed the high esteem in which she was held. We join the whole community in extending condolence to the bereaved family and relatives.
