GRAHAM — Mr. William Dalton Sharpe, 86, of 3526 Rogers Road, Graham died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. following a brief illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Iris Stanfield Sharpe, who survives and the son of Alvis A. Sharpe and Alma Graves Sharpe, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during World War II. Mr. Sharpe retired from AT&T and was a member of the Pioneers of America. He was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include a daughter, Sherry S. Overman and husband Ron of Graham; a son, D. Drew Sharpe and wife Brenda of Burlington; two sisters, Brenda S. Stafford of Graham and Eudell S. Matthews of Baltimore, Md.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one granddaughter.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Robert Shelton. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
