OBITUARIES Gerald Colon Wood  Sr.
    SWEPSONVILLE — Gerald Colon Wood  Sr., 65, of 2566 Pine Top Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at Burlington Manor.
    A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Gloria J. Wood , who survives, and the son of Hilda Wood Whitesell , who survives, and the late Jesse Colon Wood . He was a retired heating and air technician and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.
    Survivors other than his wife of the home and his mother of Swepsonville include a daughter, Darlene Wood  of Sanford; sons, Terry Lee Wood  and John Paul Wood , both of Georgia; his stepfather, Coy Whitesell  of Swepsonville; sisters, Dorcas "Dot" Bell of Denton, Carolyn Champion and Sylvia Gant, both of Reidsville, and Velinda Becraft of Pleasant Garden; brothers, Johnny Wood  of Titusville, Fla., Joel Wood  of Adian, Mich., Mike Wood  of Swepsonville, and Timothy Wood  of Greensboro; stepsisters, Carolyn Evans of Burlington, Susie Green of Gibsonville, and Cathy Smith of High Point; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Colon Wood  Jr.; and sisters, Shirley Wood , Merle Wood , and Peggy Wood .
    The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at the McClure Funeral Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Bill Abrams, pastor of Swepsonville Baptist Church. Burial will be in Hawfields Presbyterian Church cemetery.
    The family will receive friends at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the residence.
    Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
