 BURLINGTON — Mrs. Hilda Wood Whitesell, 96, of The Oaks of Alamance Assisted Living, went peacefully to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, at 3:20 a.m.
 
 A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Coy Whitesell and the late Jesse C. Wood. She was the daughter of Albert Roney and Martha Bradshaw Roney, both deceased. Hilda was a member of Swepsonville Baptist Church and a retired Nurses’ Aid and homemaker who gave birth to and raised 12 children.
 
 Survivors include four sons, Johnny Wood of Titusville, FL, Michael Wood of Graham, Joel Wood of Adrian, MI, Timothy Wood of Greensboro; three daughters, Dorcas Bell of Denton, Carolyn Champion and Sylvia Gant, both of Reidsville; 34 grandchildren; 51 greatgrandchildren; and 11 greatgreat- grandchildren. She is also survived by three stepdaughters, Carolyn Evans of Burlington, Susan Green of Gibsonville and Kathy Smith of High Point; and three step-grandchildren.
 
 She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Wood; and four daughters, Peggy Martin, Shirley Siberson, Merle Wood and Velinda Becroft.
 
 A graveside service will be conducted in Hawfields Presbyterian Church cemetery on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at 4:30 p.m.
 
 The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. and at other times at the home of a son, Michael Wood, 352 Dixon Road, Graham, NC.
 
 The family wishes to thank the staff of The Oaks of Alamance Assisted Living for the love and kindness shown to our mother while she was a resident there.
