OBITUARIES Charles Theron Johnson
BURLINGTON — Charles Theron Johnson , 89, of 2913 Bellemont-Alamance Road, died Tuesday, September 13, 2005 after 2 1⁄2 years of declining health.
A native of Middlesex, North Carolina, Mr. Johnson was the son the late Henry Johnson and the late Olga Finch Johnson , and the husband of 51 years to the late Vera Crouse Johnson . He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army. He worked for Koury’s Hosiery Mill and in the grocery business for Charlie Parker. After retirement, he worked part time delivering automobiles for local car dealerships and was a member of Bellemont College.
Survivors include a son, Mr. Joseph Theron Johnson and wife, Connie Collins; two grandchildren, Mrs. Tiffany Johnson Jones and husband, Derek Jones, and Mr. Joseph Ryan Johnson and fiancée, Monica Saunders; one brother, Mr. Dennis Johnson and wife, Lolie Johnson ; one sister, Mrs. Alberta Johnson Whitt; and a special friend, Mrs. Hazel Martin.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Mr. Henry Johnson , Mr. Zadac Johnson , and Mr. Gerald Johnson ; and three sisters, Mrs. Swannie Bissette, Mrs. Henrietta Drye, and Mrs. Bruce Parker.
Charles enjoyed gardening and providing food to those less fortunate. He loved his family and took care of his friends’ needs whenever possible. He was always happy and this joy for life will be missed, as well as he.
The funeral service will be held Friday, September 16, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington. Officiating will be the Rev. Al Horne. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 until 8 this evening, and other times at 2913 Bellemont-Alamance Road, Burlington.
