JOSEPH MAX Crouse, 76, of Rt. 1. Burlington, died in a local hospital Thursday at following a lengthy illness.

A native of Randolph County, he was the son of the late Alfred Brown and Martha Jane Ingold CROUSE. and was the husband of Mrs.. Fairy Graves CROUSE. who survives. He was a retired farmer and a member of Alamance Lutheran Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Mrs.. Charles T. Johnson. Rt. 6. Burlington, Mrs.. Raymond Massey. Rt. 1, Burlington: son, Millard L. CROUSE. Rt, 1. Burlington: sisters. .Mrs. Minnie C. Howerton. Graham. Mrs.. L. B. Smith. Rt. 3. Liberty: brother. Plato CROUSE, Rt. 2. Snow Camp; and six grandchildren.

Final rites will be held Saturday at p.m. at Alamance Lutheran Church. The Rev. Boyce Whitener, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park, Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina. The body will remain at the Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will be at the mortuary today from 7 to S p.m.
