Stephen Lynn Browning
CHARLOTTE — Stephen Lynn Browning, 46, went home to be with the Lord on December 13, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. Steve was born in Alamance County, N.C. He was the son of Delores Cox Browning and the late Jerry Clifton Browning.
He moved to Charlotte in 1990 and was employed by DACO Industrial Sales. He designed garage shelving layouts for many NASCAR teams and installed them. Steve attended Good Shepherd Methodist Church. He will be remembered by the countless number of people who were touched by his compassionate and caring heart. He was admired for his honesty, integrity, kindness and fairness. Many friends sought him out for his sympathetic ear, helping hand, sound advice or simply a strong shoulder. He was a generous, unpretentious man who always put others first. He enjoyed golf and boating with friends, fishing and skiing. He loved to sing, entertain and make people laugh.
Steve is survived by his wife, Sherry Faulkenbury Browning of the home; his mother, Delores Cox Browning of Burlington, N.C.; his brother, Kenneth Mark Browning and his wife, Andrea, of Burlington, N.C.; stepdaughter, Tracy S. Faulkenbury, and stepgrandchild, Miracle Faulkenbury of Charlotte, N.C.; and his loving dog Ginger.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 this evening at McEwen Charlotte Chapel.
The funeral will follow on Friday, December 15, at 1 p.m. at McEwen Charlotte Chapel, with the Rev. Talbot Davis officiating.
A visitation will be held Friday, December 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington, N.C. Services will follow Saturday, December 16, at 11 a.m. at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington, with a burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family wishes to thank the church family and friends for their prayers, love and support during Steve’s illness.
