Layton Herman Barber
GREENSBORO — Layton Herman Barber , 82, of Concord Church Road, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2005 from injuries resulting from an automobile accident.
He was born March 20, 1923 in Guilford County to the late William Silas Barber and Ethel Wagoner Barber . Mr. Barber served in the Navy during W.W. II and the Korean Conflict, and was a member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Lillian Troxler Barber ; one son, Phil Barber and wife Donna of Mebane; one grandson, Phillip Donald Barber of Carrboro; three sisters, Virginia Crowder and husband Rucker of Greensboro, Marie Meadow of Pinehurst, and Carolyn Cook of Greensboro; and one brother, Morris Barber and wife Leoma of Eagle Springs.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. The Rev. Susan Pillsbury will officiate. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
