Claude Allen Porterfield Jr.
BURLINGTON — Mr. Claude Allen Porterfield Jr., 75, of 3214 Alamance Road, Burlington, died at UNC Hospitals at Chapel Hill on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at 2:35 p.m.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Elizabeth E. Porterfield , who survives, and the son of Claude Allen Porterfield Sr. and Nannie Berta Ray Porterfield , both deceased.
He was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church.
In addition to the wife of the home, survivors include four sons, Mr. Jeffrey Allen Porterfield and wife, Sandra, of Elon, Mr. Keith Brian Porterfield and wife, Carren, of Elon, Mr. Kenneth Howard Gwynn and wife, Cheesie, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Mr. Larry Neal Gwynn and wife, Kim, of Mebane; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Rascoe and husband, Pete, Mrs. Nannie Somers, and Mrs. Nellie Bowman, all of Burlington; and four grandchildren, Brooke Porterfield , Brian Porterfield , Matthew Gwynn, and Jennifer Gwynn.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Wells and Elsie Whedbee; and one brother, Ray Porterfield .
The funeral will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. by the Rev. Suzanne Shoffner. Burial will follow the service in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times they will be at the residence.
