Melinda Cox Jefferson

 
 BURLINGTON — Mrs. Melinda Cox Jefferson, 73, of 1413 Briarcliff Rd., Burlington, passed away at 11:50 PM, Thursday, November 12, 2015, at her residence, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. After a brave and courageous battle with cancer, Melinda went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
 
 She was born in Rockingham County, she was the wife of the late Elgin F. Jefferson, and daughter of the late Oscar and Augusta Jones Cox. She was a retired Owner/Administrator of Assisted Living Homes. Mrs. Jefferson was a member of Trinity Worship Center and member of the NC Long Term Care Association. Melinda loved shopping, spending time with family, entertaining, decorating, walks along the beach, planting her flowers and helping others. She deeply loved taking care of her residents, whom she treated as family. All residents were always near and dear to her heart. Hulda Lane is a resident of 40 years at Jefferson Care Home.
 
 Surviving are three daughters, Donna Lewis and husband Roger of Elon, LaWanda Ray and husband Mark of Yanceyville, and Anita Jones and husband Cory of Yanceyville› five grandchildren, Justin Lewis and fiancé Landon Isaac, Brandi Mansfield and husband Dillon, Taylor Jones, Aaron Jones and Nicholas Ray› three brothers, William Cox and wife Sarah, Henry Cox, and William Saccucci and wife Phyllis› sister-in-law, Polly Cox› special nephew, Dale Terry and wife Vickie› Goddaughter, Kristina Terry› and many nieces and nephews. She deeply loved all of her family and friends. Her favorite times were spent with her grandchildren.
 
 She was preceded
 
in death by three sisters, Clara Lea Terry, Louise Childers, and Elizabeth Ware› and three brothers, Roy Cox, Chester “Rabbit” Cox, and Oscar Cox, Jr.
 
 A Celebration of Melinda’s life and homecoming will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, November 18, at Trinity Worship Center with Rev. Darrell Cox officiating. Entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday evening and other times at the residence.
 
 A special thanks to all her dedicated employees of the Homes, and a special thanks to all her personal caregivers and doctors at Duke Hospital and Vanderbilt Hospital.
