Mrs. Mamie M. Brannock
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Mamie M. Brannock , 99, of 2642 Caprice Lane, Burlington, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Monday, November 21, 2005, at 4:45 a.m.
She was born in Surry County on February 6, 1906, and was the daughter of the late A.B. Montgomery and Laura Fortner Montgomery Turney.
She was a former employee of the Elon School cafeteria. She was the oldest member of St. Mark’s Reformed Church and a member of the Adult Bible Class, Circle No. 1, and the Senior Fellowship. She was Senior Citizen of the Year in 1994.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Peggy Cooper and husband, Walter of Burlington, Mrs. Jo Ann Whitesell and husband, Jack of Charlotte, and Mrs. Eva Sneed and husband, Richard of Burlington and two grandchildren, Jan L. Whitesell and Jeffrey S. Whitesell, both of Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
The funeral will be conducted at St. Mark’s Reformed Church on Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. David P. Franks and the Rev. Ben Bishop.
Burial will follow the service in St. Mark’s Reformed Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening. At other times they will receive friends at the home of Richard and Eva Sneed, 2642 Caprice Lane, Burlington, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215 or to Elon University Athletic Foundation, P.O. Box 2400, Elon, N.C. 27244 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
