Harold  L. Shatterly 

    BURLINGTON — Mr. Harold  L. Shatterly , 82, of 1612 Belmont Street, Burlington, died at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at 3 p.m. following several years declining health and three weeks critical illness.

    A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Juanita Stevens Shatterly , who survives, and the son of George Alexander Shatterly  and Julia Thompson Shatterly , both deceased.

He was a member of Christian Bible Fellowship. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during World War II and retired from G. E. Corporation.

    In addition to the wife of the home, survivors include one son, Mr. Eddie Shatterly  and wife, Dianne, of Burlington; two grandsons, Mr. Geoff Shatterly  of Burlington and Mr. Greg Shatterly  and wife, Ingrid, of Burlington; one sister, Mrs. Judy S. Combs of Burlington; and two brothers, Mr. Raymond Shatterly  of Burlington and Mr. Bill Shatterly  of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

    He was preceded in death by one brother, Mr. George Shatterly ; and three sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Atkins, Mrs. Jane Rich, and Mrs. Lou Davis.

    The funeral will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Monday, December 19, 2005 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Paul Baker, the Rev. Bruce Readling, and the Rev. Larry Lamberth.

Burial will follow the service in Alamance Memorial Park.

    The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m., and at other times they will be at the home of the son, Eddie Shatterly , 2414 Blanche Drive, Burlington, N.C.
    Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
