Mrs. Ruth Porterfield Rascoe
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Ruth Porterfield Rascoe, 89, of Edgewood Place, died Friday, August 22, 2008, at Edgewood Place.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Robert Lee "Pete" Rascoe and the daughter of the late Claude Allen Porterfield and Berta Ray Porterfield. She was a member of Union Ridge Church and was a charter member of the Burlington Civitan Club. She was also a member and past president of the Burlington Christian Club.
Survivors include sisters, Nellie Porterfield Bowman and Nannie Porterfield Somers, both of Burlington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Margaret Porterfield and Lib Porterfield, both of Burlington, Jack and Dorothy Rascoe, Lewis and Margaret Mathis and Dot Rascoe.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Elsie Porterfield Whedbee and Frances Durham Wells; brothers, Ray Porterfield and Allen Porterfield; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike Rascoe, Horace and Margaret Rascoe, and Tom and Mary Frances Wood.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2008, at Union Ridge Church by the Rev. Dan Ficklin, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Union Ridge Church Fellowship Hall from 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday prior to the service, and at other times at the residence of Sammy and Ruth Ann Stubblefield, 3216 Coventry Place, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
The family sincerely wishes to thank the dedicated and compassionate staff of Edgewood Place.
