Mary Duckworth “Jal” Moser
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Mary Duckworth “Jal” Moser, 72, of 2233 Woody Lane, Burlington, died at Liberty Commons on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at 10:40 p.m.
A native of Avery County, N.C., she was the wife of Gene Moser, who survives, and the daughter of Gurney L. Duckworth and Brazilla Braswell Duckworth, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Inadditiontoherhusband of the home, survivors include a daughter, Kim Phillippie and husband Larry of Graham; sons, Mike Moser and wife Luellen of Burlington and Jeff Moser of the home; eight grandchildren, Kenneth Phillippie, Beth Rumley and husband Chad, Brent Hall, Jordan Hall, Derrick Phillippie, Jessica Phillippie, Shelton Moser and Morgan Moser; sisters, Wilma Hicks and husband Lee of Newland and Mildred Buchanan and husband James of Morganton; and brothers, Gurney Duckworth and wife Martha of Boone, Ted Duckworth and wife Hilda of Burlington and Wayne Duckworth and wife Ann of Spruce Pine.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Paula Martindale; and a brother, Ray Duckworth.
The funeral service will be conducted at Antioch Baptist Church on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Steve Loy and the Rev. Tim McCann. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Liberty Commons and the Alamance Regional Cancer Center for their kindness and help during Mrs. Moser’s illness.

Mr. Alson Eugene “Gene” Moser, 82, of Burlington, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021 at his home.
A native of Alamance County, Mr. Moser was the husband of the late Mary Duckworth “Jal” Moser and the son of the late Gerry and Flora Moser.
Gene worked in maintenance his entire career retiring from GKN. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
He loved woodworking and fixing hit and miss engines.
Mr. Moser is survived by his daughter, Kim Phillippie (Larry), of Graham; his son, Mike Moser (Luellen), of Burlington; eight grandchildren, Kenneth Phillippie (Kim), Beth Rumley (Chad), Brent Hall (Peter), Jordan Hall (Sarah), Derrick Phillippie, Jessica P. Gwaltney (Brandon) Shelton Moser, Morgan Moser; two great-grandchildren, Everett Rumley and Josie Phillippie.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Moser was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Moser and three sisters, Sarah Totten Hall, Lucille Layell and Emily Gurkin.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 11:45 to 12:45 PM at Antioch Baptist Church.
The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Steve Loy and Rev. Uston McKenzie officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
