John Anderson Shoe Sr.
BURLINGTON — John Anderson Shoe Sr., 74, of 2105 Combs Street, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 17, 2005 at the Hospice Home. He was a native of Alamance County, and married for 51 years to Sylvia Rudd Shoe , who survives.
John was employed with May Hosiery, J. Spencer Love, J.P. Stevens and he retired from Kayser Roth Hosiery. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Elon. John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and he was an avid sports fan. John was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Rudd Shoe of the home; daughter, Celeste J. Shoe of Burlington; son and daughterin-law, John A. "Ande" Shoe Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Burlington; granddaughter, Paige N. Shoe of Graham; and stepgranddaughter, Lindsey T. Jeffries and her husband, Brad, of Browns Summit; sisters, Mable S. Inge and Myrtle S. Inge, both of Burlington, Christine S. Teague and her husband, Charles, of Elon, Evelyn S. Wheeley and her husband, Wilton, of Durham, and Barbara S. Saunders and her husband, Leonard S. "Junior" Saunders Jr., of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Lee and Emily May Sharpe Shoe ; brothers, Louis H. Shoe and C. Elmo Shoe .
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Terry Huffines, and assisted by the Rev. John Shields. The burial will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the 82nd Airborne from Ft. Bragg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home, and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215 or to ARMC Cancer Center, Bynum Fund, c/o Coral Erikson, P.O. Box 202, Burlington, N.C. 27216.
