Banks Smith
   GRAHAM — Mr. Banks Smith, 84, of 312 North Maple Street, Graham, died at Duke University Medical Center in Durham on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 12:27 p.m.

   A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Norma Robertson Smith, who survives, and the son of Silas Jerry Smith and Lucinda Murphy Smith, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force serving during World War II. Mr. Smith was a retired bookkeeper and office manager for Massey Insurance and Real Estate. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Graham.

   In addition to his wife, Norma Robertson Smith, of their home, survivors include his daughter, Ann Smith King and husband Mark of Burlington; his son, Jerry B. Smith and wife Robin of Mebane; a sister, Helen Mitchell of Burlington; a brother, Harold M. Smith and wife Jean of Elon; a brother-in-law, John Pickard of Graham; four grandchildren, Lauren Smith, Allison Smith, Sara King and Kelsey King; and a great-grandson, Princeton Joseph.

   He was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Pickard and Sue Lindley.

   The funeral service will be conducted at the First Baptist Church of Graham on Friday, July 2, 2010 at 4 p.m. by Dr. David Kolb and the Rev. Brian Biggers. Burial will follow at Graham Memorial Park.

   The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.

   Memorials may be made to the Children’s Home Society, P.O. Box 14608, Greensboro, N.C. 27415-4608 or to the Children’s and Youth Choir Funds, c/o First Baptist Church of Graham, 214 North Main Street, Graham, N.C. 27253.
