Dorothy “Dottie” Sherrill Poole
   MEBANE — Dorothy “Dottie” Sherrill Poole, 79, of Holly Ridge Lane, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Hospice at the Meadowlands. She was the wife of the late Robert “Bob” Poole and was born January 7, 1931 in Iredell County to the late James Finney and Flossie Geneva Morrison Sherrill. Dottie had retired from AT&T and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

   Survivors include her daughter Teresa Brooks “Terry” Scruggs and her husband Tom of Franklinton; son Tommy Brooks of the home; sisters, Mary Helen Sallee of Eureka, Calif. and Mildred Lucille Murdock of Troutman, N.C., four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

   She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Margaret Louise Poplin; brothers, John Frank Sherrill and James Wilburn “J.W.” Sherrill.

   There will be a service to celebrate her life 2 p.m. Saturday at the Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum by the Rev. Darrell Massey.

   In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hospice at the Meadowlands, 1001 Corporate Drive, Hillsborough, N.C. 27278.
