Mary Sue Herndon Lawson
SILER CITY — Mrs. Mary Sue Herndon Lawson, age 87, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at The Tapestry House Assisted Living in Alpharetta, Ga.
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4, at Siler City Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Sue Flippin officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Park in Siler City.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Russell Lawson.
Survivors include daughter and sons-in-law, Susan and Chuck Bussey, of Hampton, Ga., and Sherri and Mark Noftsinger, of Acworth, Ga.; four grandchildren, Parker, Dylan and Malachi Bussey and Adam Noftsinger; sister, Vera Helms; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to everyone at The Tapestry House for all the love and care they gave to Sue.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City.

SILER CITY - Mr. Russell Henry Lawson, 74, of 2968 Old 421 North, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at Chatham Hospital. A native of Greenville, S.C., he was the husband of Mrs. Sue Herndon Lawson, who survives[ a native of Burlington]. He attended Brevard College and retired in 1980 from Kellwood Corp. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and was a member of Siler City Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder and a former member of the church choir. Survivors other than his wife include two daughters, Ms. Susan L. Bussey of Atlanta and Ms. Sherri L. Noftsinger of Acworth, Ga.; a sister, Ms. Margaret L. Cochran of Rome, Ga.; and four grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Siler City Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Sam McGregor. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Park.
